ARTIVISM: THE NINA SIMONE CHILDHOOD PROJECT

A group of artists purchased Nina Simone’s childhood home in Tryon, North Carolina as an act of resistance as the property faced demolition. With the aid of Pace Gallery, The National Trust for Historic Preservation and sports icon Venus Williams the team raised the funds necessary to preserve the property. Nina Simone’s childhood home will serve as an incubation and educational space for people to continue to draw inspiration from Simone’s work.
