New York City basketball changed forever when Isaiah Washington put his spin on the finger roll. The Harlem native’s signature move, “the Jelly,” captured the hearts and minds of youth around the city. The result: ‘Jelly Fam’ a team of the best high school prospects in the tri-state area. Co-founded by Washington and his best friend Ja’Quaye James a New Jersey basketball recruit, the group used social media to expand their brand to a national audience. James’ acumen for branding marketing comes from witnessing the success of his uncle, Juelz Santana one-third of the rap group Dipset.
